abstract Method for manufacturing a medical instrument which has an elongated handle carrying a hydrophilic surface coating or coating and intended for introduction into a body passage, characterized in that it comprises the steps consisting in taking an elongated handle formed in a thermoplastic elastometric material, selected from the group consisting of a block polyetheramide and a block of styrene block and forming the hydrophilic coating or coating on the elongated handle by the sequential application to the surface of the elongated handle of a solution comprising from 0.05 to 40% (weight based on volume) of an isocyanate type compound and a solution containing 0.5 to 50% (weight based on volume) of polyvinylpyrrolidone and cured at an elevated temperature .
