| abstract | A method is explained to initiate and establish a telephone connection (304) between a terminal (110) and a terminal (120), using a data network (140) such as the internet, a private network, a VPN or an intranet , for part of the connection (304). To this end, a connection (401/401 '/ 402 ") is first set up between the station and the terminal via the public switched telephone network (PSTN or ISDN) (130) or CATV network (150) for at least part of the connection (401 / 401 '/ 401 "), with the intention of exchanging information that the telephone connection (304) is to be initiated.
