A zinc powder for alkaline batteries may contain up to 20 ppm of iron if it further consists of 0.0005-1% aluminum, an amount of calcium such that the aluminum / calcium molar ratio is at most 2 and such that the sum of the concentrations of aluminum and calcium is 2%, from 0.001-2% of at least one of bismuth, indium and gallium and the rest from zinc. |
