titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR PRODUCING trimellitic anhydride. |
abstract | Process for the oxidation of pseudocumene by molecular oxygen to trimellitic acid, in the liquid phase in the presence of a catalyst comprising one or more heavy metals, according to which cerium, zirconium, cobalt and manganese are added to provide approximately 3 at 10 milligrams of metals per mole of pseudocumene, in addition to a source of bromine, at a temperature of about 100 to 275 degrees C. The bromine is added in at least two times, namely 0 to 35% at first stage and the rest in second stage. |
