titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of a phenol. |
abstract | Process for the preparation of a phenol by a liquid-phase oxidative decarboxylation of a liquid-phase oxidative decarboxylation of a corresponding aryl carboxylic acid in the presence of a CU- (I) -containing catalyst, characterized in that the following process steps are carried out: a oxidation of the catalyst at a temperature of 120-160 degrees C; the temperature, residence time, oxidizing agent, phenol concentration and Cu (I) concentration being selected so that virtually no tar is formed, b) a reaction of the oxidized catalyst of step a), in the absence of oxygen, in the presence of water, at a temperature of 210-280 degrees, c) separating phenol and returning the (reduced) catalyst to step a). wherein 4-10 wt. % Cu is present in the reaction mixture, and in step (a) such amount of Cu (I) salt is converted into Cu (II) salt that the amount of Cu (II) salt is above its solubility product, in step (a) a slurry is formed, crystallizing nucleators are introduced in step (a) and step (b) is cascaded ..... |
