| abstract | Food for fur or feathered animals, such as pheasants or dogs, is obtained by treating feathers or ploils with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide to a pH of about 14, then the liquid phase obtained is separated by decantation and the separated liquid phase is neutralized using hydrochloric acid to a pH of approximately 7 to 8. The neutralized product is optionally concentrated to a density of approximately 1.2. The food supplement is added to water or food for consumption by animals. |
