METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF POLYMER COATED FAMOTIDINE nTABLET nAspects of the present disclosure relate to a method (100) for preparation of polymer ncoated famotidine tablet for an effervescent approach for gastroretentive drug delivery nsystem.Gastroretentive drug delivery systems are the systems which are retained in the nstomach for a longer period of time and there by improve the bioavailability of drugs. nFloating, raft, expanding or swelling, bioadhesive or mucoadhesive and high/low-density nsystems are seen in gastroretentive dosage forms. Famotidine, an anti-acid drug, suffers nfrom poor bioavailability (50%), as famotidine is less soluble in alkaline PH famotidine nused in combination with antacids promotes local delivery of these drugs to the receptor of nthe parietal cell wall. The method (100) comprises of steps of initially passing (104) the ncollected famotidine powder (102) through a 60-mesh sieve. After passing the famotidine npower, it is mixed (106) with the low-density polymer. Then talc and magnesium stearate nare added (108) as glidant and lubricant to form a blend.
