abstract BALLOON CATHETER SYSTEMS FOR DELIVERY OF DRY DRUG nDELIVERY VESICLES TO A VESSEL IN THE BODY nABSTRACT nA method for delivery of drugs or therapeutic agents to a vessel within a body of a patient, nsaid method comprising the steps of: providing a catheter system comprising: a balloon catheter ncomprising a catheter body with a distal end adapted for insertion into vasculature of a patient, a nporous balloon disposed on the distal end, a proximal end adapted for connection to a fluid nsource, and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the balloon; a storage chamber with a nreservoir of dry drug delivery vesicles; an inflator; a suspension chamber with a connector for nfluid communication with the inflator; wherein said suspension chamber comprises a cylinder ndivided into a first cylinder chamber and a second cylinder chamber, reconstituting the drug ndelivery vesicles by forcing fluid into the storage chamber to reconstitute the drug delivery nvesicles in the storage chamber and create a suspension of reconstituted drug delivery vesicles; ndrawing the suspension of reconstituted drug delivery vesicles into the first cylinder chamber; naligning the first cylinder chamber with the lumen of the catheter; aligning the inflator with the nsecond cylinder chamber and operating the inflator to force fluid into the second cylinder nchamber, to thereby force the suspension of reconstituted drug delivery vesicles from the first ncylinder chamber into the catheter, thereby forcing the suspension of reconstituted drug delivery nvesicles through a wall of the balloon and into body tissue surrounding the balloon.
