abstract | A coating composition comprising: (a) from 10 to 90 percent by weight based on the total weight of the coating composition of an aqueous, high-solid, solvent-free alkyd dispersion comprising: from 40 to 70 percent by weight of one or more alkyds based on the total weight of the aqueous, high-solid, solvent-free alkyd dispersion, wherein each said one or more alkyds has an acid value of less than 10 and a molecular weight (M,) in the range of greater than 1000 Dalton; from more than 0 to less than 10 percent by weight of one or more surfactants, based on the total weight of the aqueous, high-solid, solvent free alkyd dispersion; and from 30 to 55 percent by weight of water, based on the total weight of the aqueous, high-solid, solvent-free alkyd dispersion; wherein said aqueous, high-solid, solvent-free alkyd dispersion has an average particle size diameter in the range of from 0.05 to 5 pm; and (b) from 10 to 90 percent by weight based on the total weight of the coating composition of one or more second components selected from the group consisting of epoxy resins; wherein said coating composition has a solid content of in the range of from 25 to 65 percent by weight of solid content, based on the total weight of the coating composition, and the coating composition has a pH in the range of from 7 to 11, wherein the coating composition has a volume average particle size in the range of from 0.03 to 5 pm, and wherein the coating composition has a viscosity in the range of from 100 to 10,000 cP. |
