abstract An analyte monitoring device, comprising a transcutaneously positioned analyte sensor in fluid contact with body fluid under a skin surface and configured to generate signals corresponding to a monitored analyte level over a monitoring time period, wherein the analyte sensor does not require calibration using an in vitro measurement obtained during the monitoring time period; a data collection module for storing a factory set calibration data and signals generated by the analyte sensor during the monitoring time period ; a communication module coupled to the data collection module for communicating analyte data corresponding to the stored signals generated by the analyte sensor to a remote location; and a control unit operatively coupled to the data collection module, the analyte sensor and the communication module, the control unit configured to control the operation of the data collection module, the analyte sensor and the communication module to process the signals generated by the analyte sensor with the factory set calibration data stored in the data collection module to generate the analyte data for communication to the remote location by the communication module.
