abstract | The present invention generally provides a kit for categorizing a DNA sample, the kit comprising: (a) at least one restriction endonuclease selected from methylation-sensitive 5 restriction endonuclease and methylation-dependent restriction endonuclease for digesting the DNA sample; (b) primers for specific amplification of at least two different genomic loci from the DNA sample following its digestion with the restriction endonuclease, wherein at least one of the loci is a restriction locus, and wherein at least one predefined pair of loci within the at 0 least two different genomic loci, following amplification thereof, produce distinct signal intensity ratios for different DNA categories; (c) an insert or software program providing one or more reference values representing ratios between signal intensities of amplification products of the at least one predefined pair of loci in known DNA categories, for determining the category of the DNA sample; and 5 (d) a written protocol for performing the categorization. |
