abstract Examiner Prepared Abstract Disclosed is a hemodialysis system comprising a blood flow circuit (10), a fluid balancing or inner dialysate circuit (143), a fluid directing or outer dialysate circuit (142), and a dialysate mixing circuit (25); the blood flow circuit comprising a blood flow cassette (22) having two diaphragm pumps (13) for pumping blood through a dialyzer, the fluid balancing circuit comprising a balancing cassette (700) comprising two or more diaphragm pumps (161,162), two or more fluid balancing chambers (342,342; 706,708), and an ultrafiltration pump (35) for exchanging fluid from the blood with dialysate via the dialyzer, the fluid directing circuit comprising a directing cassette (600) comprising two or more diaphragm pumps (159, 602/604) for pumping dialysate to the balancing cassette, and the dialysate mixing circuit comprising a mixing cassette (500) comprising two or more diaphragm pumps, a mixing chamber (189; 504) and two or more metering pumps (183,184; 8030,8032) for mixing dialysate and sending dialysate to a dialysate container (1502); wherein the mixing cassette, balancing cassette and directing cassette are fluidly interconnected and joined by rigid fluid conduits into an integrated cassette assembly.
