titleOfInvention Polyolefin bonding method
abstract There are provided methods of bonding polyolefins that are otherwise resistant to bonding, using flame treatment. In first embodiments the method includes installing polyolefin wall lining in situ comprising flame treating bonding portions of 10mm solid polyethylene wall lining with an oxidizing flame, and bonding the treated bonding portions with a sealant adhesive in less than 30 minutes from the treatment. In other embodiments, a polyolefin polymer or copolymer surface is pre-treated for bonding by flame treating with an oxidizing flame, and treating with iodine in less than 30 minutes from the treatment. The embodiments include the use of Lugol's solution as the iodining treatment.
