titleOfInvention | Antigenic gm-csf peptides and antibodies to gm-csf |
abstract | An isolated human monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to an epitope of granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), said epitope comprising at least one amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 35, SEQ ID NO: 36, SEQ ID NO:37, SEQ ID NO:38, and SEQ ID NO:39. The invention also provides a method for treating a granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF)-mediated cancer in a subject in need thereof, said method comprising administering to the subject a composition, said composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a human monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to the above epitope of GM-CSF. Also disclosed is a method for treating granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF)-mediated cancer in a subject in need thereof which comprises administering a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a human monoclonal antibody produced by a cell deposited as ATCC Accession No. PTA-8173 that binds to GM-CSF, in an amount effective to treat GM-CSF-mediated cancer.
