Some embodiments relate to extracts and beverages produced through high pressure extraction techniques. Many beverage components have been found to contain antioxidants and other health promoting compounds. For example, recent studies indicate that consuming coffee can reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, Parkinson's disease, heart disease, asthma and some forms of cancer. Tea has also been shown to have anti-cancer, anti-diabetes, anti-arthritis and anti-depressant properties. Therefore, much attention has been paid to the various compounds contained in these beverages and their possible uses as health supplements. |
