titleOfInvention Single use pulse oximeter
abstract The present invention defines a method of determining whether a patient is in hypovolemic shock which requires the use of at least two pulse oximeters, in the form of patch, attached to different areas of the patient. Each of the oximeters have mounted to said patch a light emitter and a light detector and in combination these provide information on the blood perfusion rate of a patient in the area it is attached. The patch further includes a transceiver which communicates to a remote device which works to determine a differential of the blood perfusion rate of the patient as measured by the at least two oximeters and compares the determined differential with a pre-determined condition to decide whether the patient is in shock.
