abstract | A method for producing an aqueous dispersion comprising: melt kneading (A) at least one thermoplastic resin, wherein thermoplastic resin is (i) an interpolymer of ethylene with at least one comonomer selected from the group consisting of a C4-C2 0 linear, branched or cyclic diene, and a compound represented by the formula H2C=CHR wherein R is a CI-C 2 0 linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group or a C6-C20 aryl group; or (ii) an interpolymer of propylene with at least one comonomer selected from the group consisting of ethylene, a C4-C2 0 linear, branched or cyclic diene, and a compound represented by the formula H2C=CHR wherein R is a CI-C 20 linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group or a C6-C2 0 aryl group and (B) at least one dispersing agent; and (C) in the presence of water and optionally a basic substance in an extruder; thereby forming an emulsified mixture comprising from I to 3% by weight of water; contacting said emulsified mixture with additional water in said extruder and while optionally removing heat from said emulsified mixture; thereby forming solid particles dispersed in water; and thereby producing said aqueous dispersion, wherein said dispersions has an average volume particle size in the range of from 0.05 to 5 pim, a pH in the range of 8 to 11. |
