| abstract | SURGICAL CLIP APPLIER INCLUDING CLIP RELIEF FEATURE A surgical clip applier (100) includes a jaw assembly (120) having first and second jaws (120a, 120b). Each jaw (1 20a, 120b) defines an opposed surface configured to receive a portion of a surgical clip ("C"). The jaws (120a, 120b) are moveable between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for forming the surgical clip ("C") about tissue. Each jaw (120a, 120b) includes a relief element (132a, 132b) disposed on a surface adjacent to and substantially transverse relative to the opposed surface thereof. The relief elements (1 32a, 132b) are cooperable to define a relief recess (132) upon movement of the jaws (120a, 120b) to the approximated position.
