Method for isotopic measurement by ICPMS |
abstract |
The invention relates to a method for the isotopic measurement of charged species contained in a solution to be analysed, the method including the following consecutive steps: a) in the capillary of a capillary electrophoresis device, the solution to be analysed is inserted in a contiguous fashion between a terminal electrolyte and a leader electrolyte which are arranged after the entrance and before the exit of the capillary, respectively, and which contain ions having the same charge, but a higher and lower mobility than the species; b) the species are separated using the capillary electrophoresis device in an isotachophoresis mode; and then c) as a continuation of the preceding step, an isotopic measurement is performed on the detected species in the form of a signal having substantially constant amplitude using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS) connected, by direct coupling, to the capillary electrophoresis device. The measurement method of the invention is particularly suitable for the isotopic measurement of the elements of a solution containing charged species having isobaric interference. |
