abstract The present invention relates to plant genes involved in positive regulation of resistance to fungal pathogens and uses thereof. More particularly, the present invention relates to plants which overexpress WAK91 gene, or an ortholog thereof, and having increased resistance to fungal pathogens. The invention also relates to methods for producing modified plants having increased or improved fungal disease and pathogen resistance. Furthermore, the invention relates to methods of screening and identifying molecules that induce WAK91 gene expression.
