titleOfInvention | Conversion of 2,5-(hydroxymethyl) furaldehyde to industrial derivatives, purification of the derivatives, and industrial uses therefor |
abstract | A method of preparing 2,5-furandialdehye comprising: i) reacting in a reaction mixture a material comprising 2,5(hydroxymethyl)furaldehyde; 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxyl; and an organic 5 oxidant under reaction conditions sufficient to convert 2,5(hydroxymethyl)furaldehyde to 2,5-furandialdehyde, thereby producing a product comprising 2,5-furandialdehyde; and ii) isolating 2,5-furandialdehyde from said product. |
