abstract Disclosed is a novel antimetabolic anticancer agent which has an excellent balance between antitumor effect and toxicity. Specifically disclosed are: a 5-fluorouracil derivative represented by general formula (I) or a salt thereof; and a pharmaceutical product which contains the 5-fluorouracil derivative or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. (In the formula, R represents a hydrogen atom or a protecting group of a hydroxy group; R represents a lower alkoxy lower alkyl group or a tetrahydrofuranyl group; X represents a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom; and Y represents a halogen atom or a cyano group.)
