abstract Disclosed is a sunscreen cosmetic characterized by comprising, relative to the total amount of the sunscreen cosmetic, 10-90 mass% of an agar microgel, which contains 0.4-1 mass% of agar, and 0.1-5 mass% of a water-soluble ultraviolet light absorber. To impart a high SPF value to a sunscreen cosmetic, it is necessary to use an organic ultraviolet light absorber or the like in the preparation. In such a preparation, there is a problem that the SPF function of a water-soluble ultraviolet light absorber is not as sufficient as expected. In addition, a sunscreen cosmetic should give a particularly moist feeling of use. To overcome the problem that a moist feeling of a sunscreen cosmetic is damaged by adding an oily organic ultraviolet light absorber thereto at a high ratio, disclosed is a sunscreen cosmetic which mainly comprises a water-soluble ultraviolet light absorber and, therefore, can achieve both a high SPF value and a moist feeing of use.
