Disclosed is an aqueous ink for inkjet recording, which utilizes an aqueous pigment dispersion and can achieve superior ink-ejecting properties, coloring properties and image stability. Specifically disclosed is an aqueous pigment dispersion which is characterized by comprising components (A) and (B): (A) an azo pigment which is represented by formula (I) or the like and has at least one X-ray diffraction peak characteristic to each of Bragg angle (2θ) ranges of a 5 to 15° and 20 to 30° in CuKα characteristic X-ray diffraction, a tautomer of the azo pigment, or a salt or hydrate of the azo pigment or the tautomer; and (B): a vinyl polymer containing a specific constituent unit, a constituent unit derived from (a) a monomer having a salt-generating group, and a constituent unit derived from a monomer selected from (b) a styrene macromer and (c) a hydrophobic monomer (wherein the terminal of the main chain of the water-insoluble vinyl polymer has at least either of two or more hydroxy groups and at least one carboxyl group). |
