titleOfInvention | Methods of predicting clinical outcome in malignant melanoma |
abstract | Malignant melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancer and currently accounts for more than 160.000 new cancer cases worldwide every year. Incidence of malignant melanoma is rapidly increasing - with a doubling rate of 10-20 years and a death rate of 11%. The inventors of the present application found genes that predict overall survival of patients with malignant melanoma and that contain prognostic information not comprised in the conventional histopathological and clinical criteria. Accordingly, the present invention relates to the field of oncology, more particularly to methods of predicting clinical outcome in malignant melanoma as defined in the claims. |
