abstract A method for determining characteristic properties of soot particles from combustion processes uses the determination of the blackening of a filter paper. In order to enable a relatively precise determination of the particle size, possibly also further parameters, in a simple manner with such a method, the pressure conditions on the filter paper are additionally determined. For this purpose, the differential pressure caused on the filter or filter paper by the deposition of the particles is advantageously determined.
