abstract | The present invention relates to: first, colored, low-absorption, high-thermal-emission, multi-layer coatings useful for regulating the maximum temperature of coated surfaces exposed to direct sunlight; secondly, a coating process; and thirdly, cool surfaces produced by applying these coatings. The colored coating compositions are prepared by mixing highly reflective, metallic or metallized flakes, IR transparent or IR reflecting colorants and various binders, their high thermal emission being ensured by application of a transparent topcoat with high thermal emission. The coatings can be applied by means of spray coating or coil coating. |
