titleOfInvention METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SURFACE TREATMENT OF PAPER / CARTON
abstract The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for surface treatment of paper / paperboard. A fibrous web is treated with a drying chemical-shrinking chemical containing starch. Essentially, the chemical penetrates entirely through the fiber web thickness. Thereafter, the fibrous web advances to a treatment zone (N) between two heated metal surfaces (12, 15). In the treatment zone (N), the moisture within the fibrous web migrates to a central portion, whereby the middle portion swells due to the increase in moisture and the surface portion is exposed to a high drying tension, because the surface portion is prevented from shrinking. As the fibrous web emerges from the treatment zone, the vaporized water rapidly escapes through the surface pores without substantial condensation in the surface layers, resulting in increased modulus of elasticity of the surfaces and low density of the middle section. The chemical is applied to the web (W) on one side , Negative pressure is applied to the other side (W2) of the web to allow the chemical to penetrate the web, then the web is dried without contact by means of infrared drier (9), then the chemical is applied to the other side of the web, then vacuum is applied the one side (W1) of the web is applied so that the chemical applied on the other side of the web penetrates the web, and thereafter the web is passed into the treatment zone (N). The invention also relates to a corresponding device for surface treatment of paper. Carton.
