abstract Stoppers made from foamed thermoplastic for the sealing of bottles in which liquid foods or drinks, or other liquid consumables, are present, where the plastic has an additive which is an inorganic pigment which changes its colour when exposed to heat and is compatible with food and drink or is acceptable for use with food and drink. Processes for applying a cork-branding mark to the stopper, regions of which corresponding to a predetermined cork-branding-mark pattern are exposed to heat in order to affect the colour of the pigment.
