abstract |
The compsn. (I) comprises HMG-CoA cpd. of formula R-X-CH(OH)-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-COOM (II) and an alkaline medium (III) imparting pH of at least 8 to an aq. soln. or dispersion. R = organic radical; X = -CH=CH-; and M = physiologically acceptable cation. (II) is pref. associated with carbonate(s) e.g. a mixt. of (i) water soluble and (ii) water insol. or sparingly soluble carbonates in a ratio of (i) to (ii) of 1.4-2:1. (II) is pref. fluvastatin sodium and (i) is pref. caclium carbonate and (ii) is pref. Na (bi)carbonate. (I) pref. comprises 0.5-60 wt.% (II), 0.5-40 wt.% Ca carbonate, 0.5-20 wt.,% Na bicarbonate and 10-65 wt.% microcystalline cellulose. |
