titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR PRODUCING CELLULOSIC MOLDED BODIES AND REGENERATED SOLUTION |
abstract | A process for the production of formed cellulosic products(CM), comprising (A) dissolving cellulose in an aqueous solution of tert. amine oxide, preferably N-methylmorpholine N-oxide (NMMO), (B) forming the solution and passing it through an aqueous precipitation bath to give the formed product and a used bath, and (C) regenerating the bath to give NMMO solution which is then reused in step (A). The solution used in (A) has a pH value with upper and lower limits depending on concentration and defined by the equation: pH = -0.0015 x A2 + 0.2816 x A + f, where A = concentration of NMMO = 40-86 (preferably 70-80) wt%, and f = 1.00 for the upper limit and -1.80, preferably -1.00, for the lower limit. Also claimed is (i) a process as above in which a regenerated amine oxide solution with a pH of 10.5-13.5 is used in step (A), and (ii) regenerated, concentrated aqueous solutions of amine oxide, especially NMMO, as defined above, for the production of formed cellulose products. |
