titleOfInvention DEVICE FOR DETECTING, DISPLAYING AND RECORDING THE SPEED OF A VEHICLE
abstract A device for an emergency vehicle for measuring, displaying and recording the speed of a vehicle has two video cameras 3, 4, a pulse generator 2, which scans the speedometer drive shaft (flexible speedometer shaft) of the emergency vehicle, for detecting a speed signal, as well as an evaluation circuit 1, which is connected to the video cameras 3, 4 and the pulse generator 2 and which is connected to a monitor 5. The speed signal can, on the one hand, be output on a display, and, on the other hand, be faded into the video signal via an interface. The evaluation circuit 1, a printed circuit board with the programmed interface for fading in any desired dot matrix characters, in particular multilingual texts, and a noise-immune power supply circuit which has a protective circuit which in the event of voltage peaks (glitches) protects the equipment against destruction with the aid of a reversible semiconductor fuse 7 and a zener diode 8 and immediately permits further operation after the occurrence of such voltage peaks, are accommodated in a single compact housing made from anodized aluminium. An infrared remote control 11 for controlling the connected equipment (3 to 6) is provided. It permits switching over between the two video cameras and the monitor and a printer 6, and also the operation of the video cameras, in particular the actuation of the zoom function. <IMAGE>
