abstract The process comprises the decarboxylation of 2-carboxy-3- [2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-N-methyl-1H-indole-5-methane sulphonamide (formula II) in the presence of a suitable solvent and of a suitable catalyst under an inert atmosphere and at a temperature in the range from 190 degree C to 250 degree C in order to obtain 3-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-N- methyl-1H-indole-5-methanesulphonamide (formula I), whose salts and solvates are useful in the treatment of migraine.
