abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel quaternary amine-thiol compounds VII in which A is cyclopentylene, cyclohexylene or an ethylene group which is optionally substituted by one or more C1-4-alkyl groups, R14 is a pyridine, imidazole, thiomorpholine or morpholine ring which is optionally substituted one or more times by methyl, methoxy, hydroxymethyl, methylthio or amino and which is bonded via ring nitrogen atom to A and forms a quaternary ammonium group, and X- is a counter anion, by reacting a sulphide I, II or III in which R10, R11, R12 and R13 are each, independently of one another, a hydrogen atom or a C1-4-alkyl group, with a strong acid and an appropriately substituted pyridine, imidazole, morpholine or thiomorpholine. <IMAGE>
