abstract Claim 1: An isolated mutagenized nucleic acid of a plastid Acetyl-Coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase) from a rice plant having a sequence obtained by an induced method and encoding a plastid ACCase from a rice plant, characterized in that as a result of said mutagenesis ACCase has a substitution of isoleucine for leucine at the amino acid position corresponding to position 1,781 of the plastid ACCase of Alopecurus myosuroides (Am), where the plastid ACCase of the rice plant is a protein comprising a modified version of SEQ ID No. 2 or SEQ ID No. 3 and confers tolerance to 100 g ai/ha cycloxidim on the plant in which said plastid ACCase is expressed.
