Compositions and methods are described that relate to a modified yeast that overexpress protein phosphatases associated with the HOG pathway. Modified yeast produces a higher amount of ethanol and a smaller amount of glycerol compared to precursor cells. Such yeast is particularly useful for large-scale ethanol production from starch substrates. |
