abstract Claim 1: A compound of formula (1), wherein A is CH, N or the N-oxide; G¹ is NR⁴ and G² is C (Y); or G¹ is C (Y) and G² is NR⁵; Y is O or S; X is S, SO or SO₂; X¹ is NR⁶, where R⁶ is hydrogen, C₂₋₆ alkenyl, C₂₋₆ alkynyl, (C₁₋₄ alkoxy) - (C₁₋₄ alkyl), C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl or C₁₋₆ alkyl which may be mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen and C₁₋₄ alkylsulfinyl; or X¹ is oxygen or sulfur; Q is a five to six membered monocyclic ring system linked by a carbon atom to the ring containing group A, where said ring system is aromatic, partially saturated or fully saturated and can contain between 1 and 4 heteroatoms selected from the group constituted by nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur; provided that each annular system cannot contain more than 2 oxygen atoms or more than 2 sulfur atoms; said annular system of between five and six members may be mono or polysubstituted with substituents independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₆ alkyl, nitro, hydroxyl, C halo haloalkyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkoxy, C₁₋ alkoxy ₆, C₁₋₆ alkylsulfanyl, C₁₋₆ alkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₆ alkylsulfonyl, C₁₋₆ alkylcarbonyl, C₁₋₆ alkoxycarbonyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkylsulfanyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkylsulfonyl, C₁₋₆ alkylamino, C₃₋ cycloalkylamino ₆, di- (C₁₋₆ alkylamino), formyl, C₂₋₆ alkenyl, C₂₋₆ alkynyl and (C₁₋₆ haloalkyl) carbonyl; or Q is a five to six-membered, aromatic, partially saturated or fully saturated ring system containing 1, 2 or 3 nitrogen atoms, wherein said ring system is attached by a nitrogen atom to the ring containing group A, wherein said annular system may be mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₆ alkyl, nitro, hydroxy, C halo haloalkyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkoxy, C₁₋₆ alkoxy, C₁₋₆ alkylsulfanyl , C₁₋₆ alkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₆ alkylsulfonyl, (C₁₋₆ alkyl) carbonyl, (C₁₋₆ alkoxy) carbonyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkylsulfanyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkylsulfonyl, C₁₋₆ alkylamino, C₃₋ cycloalkylamino ₆, di- (C₁₋₆ alkylamino), formyl, C₂₋₆ alkenyl, C₂₋₆ alkynyl and C₁₋₆ haloalkylcarbonyl; and wherein said annular system may also contain 1 or 2 heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur, provided that said annular system cannot contain more than one oxygen atom or more than one sulfur atom; or Q is C₃₋₄ cycloalkyl or C₃₋₄ mono or polysubstituted cycloalkyl with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl, C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl and phenyl, wherein said phenyl may be mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl, C halo haloalkoxy, C₁₋₄ alkoxy, C₁₋₄ haloalkylsulfanyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkylsulfonyl and (C₁₋₄ haloalkyl) carbonyl; or Q is C₂₋₆ alkenyl or C₂₋₆ alkenyl mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkoxy, C₁₋₄ alkoxy or phenyl, wherein said phenyl may be mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl; or Q is C₂₋₆ alkynyl or C₂₋₆ alkynyl mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkoxy, C₁₋₄ alkoxy or phenyl, wherein said phenyl may be mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl; or Q is C₁₋₄ alkyl mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl, phenyl, pyridine and pyrimidine, wherein said C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl, phenyl, pyridine and pyrimidine may be mono or polysubstituted with selected substituents from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ alkylsulfanyl, C₁₋₄ alkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₄ alkylsulfonyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkylsulfanyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkylsulfinyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkylsulfonyl, C₁₋₄ alkyl, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkoxy and C₁₋₄ alkoxy; R¹ is C₁₋₆ alkyl, C₁₋₆ haloalkyl, C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl or (C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl) - (C₁₋₄ alkyl); or R¹ is (C₃₋₆ cycloalkyl) - (C₁₋₄ alkyl) mono or polysubstituted with substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, C₁₋₄ haloalkyl and C₁₋₄ alkyl; or R¹ is C₂₋₆ alkenyl, C₂₋₆ haloalkenyl, C₂₋₆ alkynyl or C₂₋₆ haloalkynyl; R² is halogen, cyano, C₁₋₆ haloalkyl or C₁₋₆ haloalkyl substituted with one or two substituents selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, methoxy and cyano;
