titleOfInvention | HERBICIDE RESISTANCE GENES |
abstract | This provides plants that are not only resistant to 2,4-D, but also to pyridyloxyacetate herbicides. So far, there were no expectations or suggestions that a plant with both advantageous properties could be produced by the introduction of a single gene. This also includes plants that produce one or more enzymes of the present stacked together with one or more herbicide resistance genes. This allows us to use combinations of herbicides in new forms. In addition, methods are provided to prevent development, and control weed strains that are resistant to one or more herbicides such as glyphosate. The enzyme and the preferred gene for use in accordance with the present are referred to herein as AAD-12 (Aryloxy Alkanoate Dioxygenase). This is the basis of significant herbicide tolerance traits in crops and selectable marker opportunities. Claim 1: An isolated inheritable expression cassette, characterized in that it comprises a nucleic acid molecule comprising SEQ ID No. 3 and a promoter selected from a cassava rib mosaic virus, Arabidopsis thaliana ubiquitin 10 promoter, mosaic virus promoter from escrofularia, rice actin promoter, phaseolin promoter, corn ubiquitin promoter, Arabidopsis thaliana Act2 promoter, Arabidopsis thaliana ubiquitin 11 promoter and Arabidopsis thaliana ubiquitin 3 promoter. Claim 2: The expression cassette according to claim 1, characterized in that the expression cassette further comprises a nucleic acid molecule encoding a modified 5-enolpiruvil-shiquimato-3-phosphate synthetase (EPSPS) protein. |
