Method for using a volatile antimicrobial compound against pathogens that affect humans, and comprising contacting the affected areas with an atmosphere containing an effective amount of a volatile antimicrobial compound in gaseous form. Volatile antimicrobial compounds include certain oxaborol compounds, for example benzoxaboroles.
