abstract Claim 1: A method for modulating the appearance of a monocot or dicot plant characterized in that it comprises contacting the plant or substrate where it develops with (a) sarmentine or an analogue of sarmentine and (b) at least a second herbicide, where the at least one second herbicide is selected from paclobutrazol and amicarbazone; where sarmentine or sarmentine analogue and the second herbicide have a synergistic herbicidal effect on the plant. Claim 2: The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the sarmentine or the sarmentine analogue has the structure of formula (1), wherein R², R³ and N form a heterocyclic ring containing N and containing between four and six carbon atoms, and R¹ is an alkenyl, arylalkenyl or alkyl unit. Claim 3: The method according to claim 2, characterized in that R¹ is -CH = CH-CH = CH (CH₂) ₄-CH₃. Claim 4: The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the sarmentine has the structure of formula (2). Claim 12: A herbicidal composition characterized in that it comprises sarmentine or an analogue of sarmentine and paclobutrazol. Claim 14: A herbicidal composition characterized in that it comprises sarmentine or an analogue of sarmentine and amicarbazone. Claim 16: The composition according to any of claims 12-15, characterized in that it also comprises an anti-phytopathogenic agent. Claim 17: The composition according to claim 16, characterized in that the antifitopathogenic agent is selected from the group consisting of an insecticide, a fungicide, a nematicide, a viricide and a bactericide.
