abstract A process for making tea products is provided, comprising: providing fresh and whole tea leaves; place the tea leaves in a press and press them, thus producing a tea juice and a leaf residue, while at the same time steam is applied to the outside of the press, so that the steam comes into contact with the juice as it comes out of the press; pick up the juice; and process the residue of the leaves to produce black tea. A green tea product is also provided that can be obtained through the process. The product contains more than 3.0% by weight of theanine from total tea solids and has a weight ratio of theanine to total polyphenols less than 1: 6.
