titleOfInvention INTEGRATED PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF 2,5-FURANDICARBOXILIC ACID
abstract An integrated process for the production of 2.5 FDCA in two stages is described, a first stage for the generation of 5-HMF from streams comprising an aqueous solution of carbohydrates, where water in the subcritical state acts as a catalyst dehydrating carbohydrates and generating 5-HMF, and a second stage of oxidation of 5-HFM to obtain 2.5 FDCA. Claim 1: Integrated process for the production of 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid, characterized by comprising the following steps: a) introducing a charge consisting of an aqueous stream containing carbohydrates in concentrations ranging from 1% to 50%, in a reactor operated at temperatures in the range of 150 ° C to 300 ° C, under pressure between 300 psia to 1800 psia, at a space velocity between 0.20 to 4 h⁻¹, in order to promote the dehydration reaction of carbohydrates and the formation of 5-HMF with selectivity above 60% mol / mol; b) filter the 5-HMF rich stream obtained in a way to remove humins and salts, by-products generated in the dehydration of the charge; c) adjust the pH of the 5-HMF rich stream already filtered to values between 6.5 and 7.5; d) promote the contact of the 5-HMF rich current, already filtered and with the adjusted pH, with an ion exchange ream of acidic characteristics previously exchanged with cations such as Na⁺, K⁺, Ca²⁺ (preferentially) or others, so as to obtain two streams: a first stream containing 5-HMF in concentrations above 90% and a second stream containing carbohydrates that have not reacted; e) conduct the stream containing carbohydrates that have not reacted to the dehydration reactor of item a); f) adjust the pH of the current containing 5-HMF to values in the range between 6.5 and 14; g) promote the contact of the current containing 5-HMF, with the pH already adjusted, with a current rich in oxygen, in a fixed bed reactor, where the catalyst is a heterogeneous supported metal catalyst, or even a catalyst mass metal, so as to obtain conversions of 5-HMF to 2.5 FDCA above 90% mol / mol; h) recover the 2.5 FDCA produced in g) by precipitation followed by filtration.
