titleOfInvention GRANULATED FERTILIZERS THAT HAVE IMPROVED POWDER CONTROL
abstract Claim 1: A coated fertilizer granule for dust control, comprising: a base fertilizer granule; and a biodegradable powder control coating applied topically to the base fertilizer granule comprising: an oil component; and a polymeric additive essentially dissolved in the oil component; in which the polymeric additive can be dissolved in the oil component when the latter is heated to a temperature above room temperature, so that said oil component has flowability. Claim 3: The fertilizer granule according to claim 1, wherein the oil component is selected from a group consisting of agricultural oils, crude oil refinery by-products, DUSTROL and combinations thereof. Claim 4: The fertilizer granule according to claim 1, wherein the polymeric additive comprises at least one polyethylene homopolymer. Claim 5: The fertilizer granule according to claim 4, wherein the at least one polyethylene homopolymer is selected from a group consisting of high density polyethylene, medium density polyethylene, low density polyethylene and polyethylene Linear low density. Claim 11: The fertilizer granule according to claim 1, wherein the base fertilizer comprises at least one of the group consisting of phosphates, nitrates, ureas and potassium. Claim 12: The fertilizer granule according to claim 11, which further comprises at least one secondary nutrient selected from a group consisting of calcium, sulfur and magnesium and / or at least one micronutrient selected from group consisting of zinc, manganese, iron, copper, molybdenum, boron, chlorine, cobalt and sodium. Claim 13: A method of producing a coated fertilizer granule for dust control, comprising: preparing a base fertilizer paste; granulate the base fertilizer paste in a bed of granule base fertilizer laminate; heat an oil component; mixing a polymeric additive with the hot base oil component to prepare a powder control coating; and topically apply the powder control coating to the base fertilizer granules.
