titleOfInvention SELECTIVE HYDROULFURATION OF CATALYTIC NAFTA FOR FLUIDIZED MILK TO OBTAIN VALUES OF LESS THAN 10 PPM SULFUR
abstract A process to reduce the sulfur content of a hydrocarbon stream. A full range of cracking naphtha is contacted with a hydrogenation catalyst to convert at least a portion of the dienes and mercaptans to thioethers and to hydrogenate at least a portion of the dienes. The full range of cracking naphtha is fractionated to give a fraction of light gasoline, a fraction of medium gasoline, and a fraction of heavy gasoline. The heavy naphtha fraction is hydrodesulphured. The medium naphtha fraction is mixed with hydrogen and diesel to form a mixture, which is contacted with a hydrodesulfurization catalyst to produce a medium naphtha fraction with a lower concentration of sulfur. Then, the light, heavy, and medium naphtha fractions can be recombined to form a hydrodesulfurized product that in some embodiments has a sulfur content less than 10 ppm.
