abstract Claim 1: A substantially anhydrous oral composition, characterized in that it comprises an effective amount of a zirconium amino acid complex suspended in a hydrophobic vehicle to prevent, reduce or inhibit dental hypersensitivity. Claim 2: The composition of claim 1, characterized in that the zirconium amino acid complex is selected from a zirconium glycine complex, an alanine zirconium complex, an arginine zirconium complex, a threonine zirconium complex, a zirconium complex Lysine zirconium, a leucine zirconium complex, a tryptophan zirconium complex, a phenylalanine zirconium complex, a valine zirconium complex, a methionine zirconium complex, and a combination of two or more thereof. Claim 3: The composition of claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that the zirconium amino acid complex is a zirconium glycine complex. Claim 7: The composition of any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the hydrophobic vehicle comprises MCT, polyethylene glycol, silicone fluid, mineral oil, propylene glycol or a combination of two or more thereof. Claim 8: The composition of any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the hydrophobic vehicle comprises MCT. Claim 9: The composition of any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the zirconium amino acid complex is present in the amount of about 0.01% by weight to about 20% by weight of the total weight of the composition. Claim 11: The composition of any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the composition is a mouthwash or a toothpaste. Claim 12: A method for preventing, reducing or inhibiting dentinal hypersensitivity, characterized in that it comprises applying an effective amount of the composition of any of the preceding claims to the oral cavity of a subject in need thereof.
