titleOfInvention | TRANSGENIC PLANTS WITH IMPROVED FEATURES AND METHODS FOR PRODUCTION |
abstract | The present description provides methods for the production of a plant that exhibits an altered trait selected from the group consisting of altered hexose sugar level, altered starch level, altered sucrose phosphate synthase activity, altered ureido level and delayed senescence, in comparison with a control plant. The present description also provides transgenic cells, plants, parts of plants, seeds, progeny plants, consumer products or products produced by this method. Claim 1: A method for the production of a plant that exhibits an improved trait selected from the group that it consists of altered levels of at least one hexose sugar, altered levels of starch, altered sucrose phosphate synthase activity, altered levels of at least one ureide and delayed senescence, as compared to a control plant, said method comprising: 1) providing a recombinant nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises a conserved domain having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7; 2) introduce the recombinant nucleic acid into a plant cell to produce a transgenic plant, and 3) the growth of the transgenic plant with an improved characteristic. |
