abstract This provides a method for the selective control of unwanted vegetation at a site that encompasses sugar cane and unwanted vegetation, where the method comprises the application to the site of: a. a herbicide of the formula (1) or one of its acceptable salts for agrochemical use; and b. a herbicide that inhibits PS-II; where the amount of component (a) and component (b) applied to the site provides control of unwanted vegetation, and where the amount of component (b) applied ensures the herbicidal effect of component (a) on the sugar cane. It also provides a herbicidal composition comprising (a) a herbicide of the formula (1) or one of its acceptable salts for agrochemical use; and (b) a herbicide selected from the group consisting of metribuzine, hexazinone and tebutiuron.
