abstract Synthesis for the preparation of solifenacin and its acceptable salts for pharmaceutical use. Claim 1: A process for preparing solifenacin base of formula (1), or a salt thereof, characterized in that said process comprises: (i) reacting (3R) -3-quinuclidinol of formula (2), with 1,1 -carbonyl-di- (1,2,4-triazole) of formula (3), in an organic solvent to obtain a mixture, and (ii) combine the mixture of step (i) with (S) -1-phenyl- 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline of formula (4), in the presence of a base to obtain solifenacin base.
