abstract Compositions containing the compounds; and the uses of the compounds in the treatment of diseases or conditions associated with the activity of fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH). Claim 1: A compound of formula (1) in which: each R 1 is independently hydrogen, -OH, halogen, halo-C 1-6 alkyl, -O-C 1-6 alkyl, -S-C 1-6 alkyl aryl, heteroaryl, -O-aryl, - O-heteroaryl, -NH2, -NHC (O) C1-6 alkyl, - (CH2) 0-3 -C3-6 cycloalkyl, -NHC (O) C3-6 cycloalkyl, -NH C1 alkyl -6, CN, -C (O) NR'Rö or -C (O) C1-6 alkyl; each R1-C1-6 alkyl group being optionally substituted with a -O-C1-6 alkyl group or between 1 and 3 substituents -OH. R 'and Rö are independently selected from H or C1-6 alkyl is aryl, heteroaryl, -C (O) -aryl, or -C (O) -heteroaryl; each R3 is independently hydrogen, halogen, haloalkyl, -C1-6 alkyl, -O-C1-6 alkyl, -S-C1-6 alkyl, - (CH2) 0-3 -C3-6 cycloalkyl -S-C3-cycloalkyl 6 and O-C3-6 cycloalkyl said R3-C1-6 alkyl -O-C1-6 alkyl -S-C1-6 alkyl, - (CH2) 0-3 -C3-6 cycloalkyl, -SO-C3- cycloalkyl groups 6, and C3-6 O-cycloalkyl are optionally substituted with between 1 and 4 halogen, haloalkyl, -O-haloalkyl, C1-6 alkyl or -O- (C1-6 alkyl) substituents; R4 is hydrogen, -C1-6alkyl phenyl, - (CH2) 0-3 -C3-6cycloalkyl, or halogen; said R 4 groups being C 1-6 alkyl, phenyl, and - (CH 2) 0-3 C 3-6 cycloalkyl optionally substituted with between 1 and 4 halogen substituents, C 1-6 alkyl or -O- (C 1-6 alkyl); X is N, C, or CH; m is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4; n is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; and Ar is aryl, -CH2-aryl, or heteroaryl, said aryl, CH2-aryl, and heteroaryl groups being optionally and independently substituted with between 1 and 4 substituents selected from hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, C2-6 alkenyl, C2 alkynyl -6, - (CH2) 0-3 -C3-6cycloalkyl, halogen, haloalkyl, -O-haloalkyl, -C- (O) -C1-6 alkyl, -O-C1-6 alkyl, -S-C1-alkyl -6, -O- C2-6 alkenyl, -O- C2-6 alkynyl, CN, aryl, heterocyclyl or heteroaryl; said substituents C1-6 alkyl, - (CH2) 0-3 -C3-6cycloalkyl, -C (O) C1-6 alkyl, -O-C1-6 alkyl; -S- C1-6 alkyl, aryl, -CH2-aryl, heterocyclyl and heteroaryl on Ar are optionally and independently substituted with between 1 and 4 C-C alkyl substituents, Ci-0s alkoxy, -OH, or halogen; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
