titleOfInvention INHIBITION OF OSTWALD MATURATION IN CHEMICAL FORMULATIONS
abstract A formulation having a slightly water soluble ingredient and a method for preparing it is disclosed. The formulation of the base mixture comprises a slightly water-soluble ingredient and a dispersant comprising a water soluble or dispersible derivative of an alternate copolymer or its salt. The alternate copolymer comprises a residue of a first comonomer and a residue of a second comonomer. In addition, the first comonomer comprises an alpha, beta-unsaturated oxyacid, or an anhydride or other derivative thereof. Also, the second comonomer comprises an olefinic compound that contains one or more polymerizable double bonds, or a derivative thereof. Said formulation can be used to inhibit the maturation of Ostwald, as well as in non-agricultural applications.
